My lecture concerned the impact of self-government decentralization on the development of Poland and its present position in Europe. I gave it to faculty and PhD students of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, one of the best public governance schools in the world, which is part of the National University of Singapore (position 11 in the world and 1 in Asia). They are interested in Poland’s development here, but the Poles can still learn a lot from Singapore. Do you know that Singapore is the most competitive in the world, the world’s most business-friendly, No. 2 in economic freedom, No. 3 in terms of GDP per capita, No. 7 in innovativeness and No. 9 in social development (HDI)? These successes are not only due to location and logistical advantage. It is also the result of excellent strategic public governance that officials from around the world are learning here.
